GDNA Wins Neighborhood improvement award for 2025

On February 12, 2026 at the Roanoke Neighborhood Advocates annual neighborhood awards ceremony - the Greater Deyerle Neighborhood was the recipient of the 2025 City of Roanoke Neighborhood Improvement Award for our work rehabbing our neighborhood gateway signs. This was truly a team effort, with many people contributing their time and efforts to helping us essentially rebuild and improve both their appearance, but also their usability (hanging our GDNA meeting signs). This was made possible with some of the Spark Plug grant money awarded last spring.

brandon station townhouse community approved
The Roanoke City Planning Commission and Roanoke City Council have approved the new townhouse community - Brandon Station. This 195-unit community will be located on Brandon Avenue with the entrance located just prior to the Skate Center going towards Salem. This land was already zoned for apartments. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026. Although a detailed traffic study has been conducted related to its impact on Brandon Avenue - there are concerns about the increase volume of cut-through traffic expected to impact Keagy Rd, Cravens Creek Rd, Deyerle Rd, Mudlick Rd.
