February 2026:  GDNA Wins 2025 Neighborhood Improvement Award

 

On February 12, 2026 at the Roanoke Neighborhood Advocates annual neighborhood awards ceremony - the Greater Deyerle Neighborhood was the recipient of the 2025 City of Roanoke Neighborhood Improvement Award for our work rehabbing our neighborhood gateway signs.  This was truly a team effort, with many people contributing their time and efforts to helping us essentially rebuild and improve both their appearance, but also their usability (hanging our GDNA meeting signs).  This was made possible with some of the Spark Plug grant money awarded last spring.  

October 2025:  Brandon Station Townhome Community Approved

 

The Roanoke City Planning Commission and Roanoke City Council have approved the new townhouse community - Brandon Station.  This 195-unit community will be located on Brandon Avenue with the entrance located just prior to the Skate Center going towards Salem. This land was already zoned for apartments. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026.  Although a detailed traffic study has been conducted related to its impact on Brandon Avenue - there are concerns about the increase volume of cut-through traffic expected to impact Keagy Rd, Cravens Creek Rd, Deyerle Rd, Mudlick Rd.

November 2025:  As of November 10, 2025, they hybrid-canines have been relocated from the Greater Deyerle Neighborhood.

Roanoke City Council voted 7-0 on September 15, 2025 to ban hybrid-canines in the City of Roanoke.  Exceptions are made for current owners. The amended ordiance is here.  Roanoke Times Article.  WDBJ7 Article  

Charges against the owners of the hybrid-canines involved in the incident on June 26, 2025 have been dismissed.  Information can be found in this article

March 2025:  GDNA Adopts Deyerle Rd and Mud Lick Road as part of Adopt-A-Street Program

 

The Greater Deyerle Neighborhood Association as adopted Deyerle Road and Mud Lick Road as part of the Clean Valley Council Adopt-a-Street Program.

January 2025:  GDNA Publishes Results of Neighborhood Survey

December 2024:  GDNA Wins 2024 Neighborhood Communications Award

 

The Roanoke Neighborhood Adovocates and the City of Roanoke have awarded the Greater Deyerle Neighborhood Association the 2024 Neighborhood Communications Award!

The Neighborhood Communications Award recognizes excellence in quality and creativity in neighborhood-oriented publications and/or other neighborhood communication outreach activities.
